Amelia is two weeks old today! I can barely believe its been two weeks. On one hand, its been the longest two weeks of my life. On the other..it feels like I just went into labor yesterday. Time is really flying. It has been a long, hard two weeks. Trouble with nursing has been our biggest issue. For one thing--it hurts! They say its not supposed to, but it does. It hurts while she nurses, it hurts after. Then I get about 30 minutes of no pain, then the milk comes in and it hurts some more. It is a daily struggle for me to keep at it, but I know its best for her, so Im trying to just deal with the pain. It can only make me stronger, right?!

A few days ago the pain got really bad, worse than ever before. Amelia wouldn't eat, so I decided to pump. I started feeling lightheaded and dizzy so I sat on the floor to catch my bearings. I started feeling worse and worse, achey and sore. I felt cold so I took my temperature--it was over 100 degrees! I thought..
oh no..Im getting sick. What am I going to do?! The next morning I could barely get out of bed, I felt so weak and achey my mom actually had to pull me up out of bed by my arms. We called my doctor--turns out I had mastitis!!! As if nursing wasn't hard enough, I got a breast infection. It presents with flu like symptoms which is why I felt so sick. So all that day, every time Amelia nursed I bawled like a baby. Im on anti-biotics now, and it seems to be getting better.

Other than that, I can't complain too much. Amelia eats every 2-3 hours so I don't get much sleep at night, but I try to get a good nap in during the day. Its funny how motherhood changes your priorities. Today I put on make-up for the first time in over a week. I just needed to feel semi-normal even though we are not going anywhere. It made me feel a bit more human :)

She look so wide-awake for 2 weeks! I always forget mine were almost a month early, so they didn't "wake up" for quite sometime. She's beautiful. And way to go with the makeup! Took me 8 weeks to get some on!!!
